The short answer
You opened the folder this morning. Twelve designs. Maybe twenty. Some from last weekend, some from three months ago. None of them are on Etsy. The designs aren't the problem — they're done. The problem is the wall between a finished design and a shipped listing: five print ratios at 300 DPI, custom ratios when nothing standard fits, a believable mockup set, a 15-second listing video, title and tags and description, a customer PDF, a named Drive folder. Nine steps. Per design. Across twelve designs, that's 108 micro-decisions, which is exactly why the folder never empties. Drop one design into RatioReady and the companion gets the rest of the listing ready — five ratios, mockup set, listing video, listing copy, Drive folder, in minutes. Wall art is $0.50 a listing on Pro, posters $0.40, clipart from $0.10.

what's in the wall (the honest list)

For one design to become one published Etsy listing, the seller usually has to:

  1. Resize for every print ratio Etsy buyers want — 2:3, 3:4, 4:5, A-series, ISO international. Each at 300 DPI, without losing fidelity at the largest size.
  2. Generate a custom ratio if the design's natural proportions don't fit a standard one. (This is where a lot of work gets abandoned.)
  3. Build a mockup set that looks like the design lives in a real room or on a real wall. Believable shadows, believable framing.
  4. Render a 15-second listing video because Etsy gives video listings preferential placement.
  5. Write a title with the right combination of keywords for Etsy SEO, without sounding like a robot.
  6. Write tags — all 13 — without repeating the title verbatim.
  7. Write a description that converts but doesn't read like every other description.
  8. Package the customer download as a clean PDF if it's a digital product.
  9. Drop everything into a Drive folder so it's ready to upload to Etsy.

Nine steps. Per design. For 12 designs that's 108 micro-decisions. No wonder the folder doesn't empty.

02

the way most sellers try to break the wall

The common workflow looks like this: open Photoshop, resize manually for each ratio, export PNG, switch to Placeit or Smartmockups for the mockup, switch to a video tool for the 15-second listing video, switch to Canva for the customer PDF, write the listing in a separate document, then upload everything to Etsy by hand.

Six tools. Six tabs. About four hours per design when you're focused, six when you're not.

If you do this once on a Sunday afternoon with coffee, it feels manageable. If you do it twelve times in a row, you stop somewhere around design four and the rest of the folder waits another month.

what changes the math

The wall comes down when one upload produces everything the listing needs. That's the entire premise of RatioReady: drop one image, the companion gets the rest of the listing ready.

Per upload:

  • Five print ratios at 300 DPI (2:3, 3:4, 4:5, A-series, ISO).
  • Optional custom ratios if your design needs one (5 credits each).
  • A mockup set, on a wall or in a frame, that looks like a photograph.
  • A 15-second listing video built from the design.
  • A customer download PDF (digital products only).
  • A copy-ready Etsy listing draft — title, tags, description.
  • All of it delivered to a Google Drive folder, named with the design's SKU.

The job runs in minutes, not hours. The Pro tier prices wall art at $0.50 a listing, posters at $0.40. Clipart bundles start at $0.10.

If you have 12 designs sitting in a folder, that's $4.80 of wall art credits — or one Sunday morning of running them through, one after another, while your coffee is still warm.

when you would actually use this

There are four moments where this matters:

1. The Sunday batch. You've been designing all week, finished the last one Saturday night, and want everything ready for Monday's Etsy push. Drop the folder in, walk away, come back to a Drive folder full of listings.

2. The seasonal flip. You're switching from Mother's Day designs to Father's Day designs and need to ship twelve fresh listings in two days. The wall is the bottleneck, not the design work.

3. The custom ratio you've been avoiding. A buyer asked for an 11×17 print. You don't have a workflow for that. RatioReady's custom ratio is one extra credit. The design adapts without losing edges.

4. The seller who isn't a designer. You're using Canva, Procreate, or Midjourney. You're not opening Photoshop. The whole nine-step wall above assumes Photoshop fluency you don't have or want.

05

common mistakes when shipping designs at scale

Mistake 1: Resizing the wrong way. If your hero file is 3000×4000 px, scaling up to 24×36 inches at 300 DPI requires the file to be 7200×10800 px. Stretching pixels you don't have produces a fuzzy print. RatioReady upscales before it resizes, so the largest ratio still holds detail.

Mistake 2: Skipping the listing video. Etsy's algorithm gives listings with video a measurable boost. Skipping it because "it takes another 30 minutes per listing" leaves impressions on the table.

Mistake 3: Mockups that look like mockups. Generic flat-paper mockups read as templates and reduce trust. A mockup that looks like a photograph — frame, wall, lighting consistent — converts.

Mistake 4: Inconsistent file naming. SKU-prefixed file names ("WA-001-16x20.jpg") let you track what shipped. Generic names ("design1-final-v3.jpg") cost you when a buyer asks which file they got.

Mistake 5: Listing one design at a time. Twelve designs prepared one-by-one across twelve Sunday afternoons is twelve missed weeks of impressions. Batching is the only way to catch up.
