Print-ready means the file meets the printer’s technical needs. That includes 300 DPI at final print dimensions, correct pixel dimensions, an accepted file type, and the proper color space. For most POD platforms that means JPG or PNG in RGB color space. If you need cutouts or overlays, a PNG with transparency is required.

Being print-ready also means assets bundled for listing: high-res print files, listing previews or mockups, and clear listing copy. Missing any of these turns a fast listing into an afternoon of manual fixes.

JPG is the default for photographic prints and posters because it compresses well. Use JPG for wall art and poster print files unless you need a transparent background. PNG preserves transparency. For clipart, deliver PNGs when buyers expect cutouts; include JPG previews for listing images.

Most POD services expect RGB color space. Upload RGB; the print partner will convert to their printer profile. Ratio Ready outputs files in RGB and provides transparent PNGs on demand, so your files meet platform expectations out of the box.

300 DPI means 300 pixels per inch at the final printed size. Calculate pixels by multiplying inches × 300. For a 12×18" print you need 3600×5400 pixels at 300 DPI. Dimensions must match the target print size and crop ratios for each product listing.

For wall art you typically supply multiple ratios (2:3, 3:4, 4:5, 11:14, ISO A1) at 300 DPI so listings fit standard frames and mockups. Posters generally require a single print file at 300 DPI and a shipping profile because they’re physical products.
