We've tested this against 200+ community-shared Smartmockups templates with a >95% first-try success rate. The 5% that fail are usually missing the PLACEHOLDER layer name; rename it in Photoshop and re-import.

The Templates page accepts bulk drag-drop; each PSD is validated server-side (smart-object layer present, image data readable) and stored in your private template library on Cloudflare R2. Growth-plan users have a 60-template limit, Pro-plan users get 120. The migration import does not consume credits — only running mockup composites against templates does.

You always have your original PSDs because they live on your hard drive — Ratio Ready stores a copy on R2 for processing, but we never become the only place your templates exist. We also publish a one-click "export all my templates" endpoint so you can pull everything down at any time. The lesson from Smartmockups is real: you should never trust a single vendor as the only source of your business assets. We try to never be in that position with you.

Yes — frame mockups, apparel mockups, mug and tumbler mockups, lifestyle scenes, flat-lay arrangements, sticker on laptop, phone case, tote bag, journal cover. Anything that was a smart-object PSD in Smartmockups works in Ratio Ready. We don't currently support video mockups (Smartmockups had a few of these). For wall art specifically, we also include a curated library of mockups, so you don't need to build everything yourself.

Not directly — Smartmockups had no public export API before they shut down, so historical mockups generated through their tool are stuck in their cloud (which is itself going away). What you can migrate is your PSD template library if you uploaded custom ones. For mockups already generated and downloaded to your computer, just keep using them as-is on existing listings; new listings get re-shot through Ratio Ready's pipeline.

Most templates render in 8–20 seconds, depending on PSD complexity (number of layers, blend modes, shadow effects). A typical batch of 4–6 frame mockups for a wall art listing finishes in under a minute. Larger composite scenes (lifestyle shots with 15+ layers) can take up to 30 seconds each. Compositing happens in parallel via our queue, so a 10-mockup batch is not 10x slower than a 1-mockup batch.

A one-page guide that explains how to open the zip on iPhone / Android / Mac / Windows, lists which file in the bundle matches which standard frame size, and links the buyer back to your shop with your branding (logo, tagline, name). It directly addresses the most common Etsy support ticket: "I bought your printable but I can't open the file." Sellers who include this PDF report a measurable drop in refund requests and higher repeat-buyer rates.
