Print-Ready Images for Gooten
Gooten is a B2B-focused POD network fulfilling 140+ products for high-volume Shopify brands and agencies. This guide covers per-product upload specs, DPI requirements, and the format mistakes that cause print rejections.
Gooten operates as a B2B print fulfillment network — it's built for sellers doing 100+ orders per month who want a single API or Shopify app integration rather than manual uploads per listing. The catalog runs to 140+ SKUs: wall art, canvas wraps, framed prints, pillows, tote bags, apparel, home goods, and more.
Like Printful, Gooten uses per-product print files — each SKU has its own pixel dimensions, DPI minimum, and color space requirement. Unlike some consumer-facing POD platforms, Gooten expects production-quality files: 300 DPI, sRGB, JPG or PNG, under 25MB. This guide covers the full spec table for the most common products plus the upload failures that cause rejections or degraded print quality.

| Product Type | Print Area (px) | DPI | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wall Print 8x10" | 2,400 x 3,000 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Most common small wall art SKU; no bleed required |
| Wall Print 11x14" | 3,300 x 4,200 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Popular mid-size; sRGB required |
| Wall Print 16x20" | 4,800 x 6,000 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Standard gallery size; keep file under 25MB |
| Wall Print 18x24" | 5,400 x 7,200 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Large format; AI upscale often required from 72 DPI sources |
| Wall Print 24x36" | 7,200 x 10,800 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Poster size; needs high-res master — smallest mistake shows at scale |
| Canvas 8x10" | 2,400 x 3,000 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Gallery wrap; design extended to wrap edges or use solid-color bleed |
| Canvas 16x20" | 4,800 x 6,000 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Most popular Gooten canvas; same wrap-edge rules as smaller sizes |
| Pillow 18x18" | 5,400 x 5,400 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Square format; design prints front face only |
| Tote Bag | 3,600 x 3,600 | 300 | PNG (transparent) | Centered print on natural fabric; transparent PNG for fabric show-through |
| T-Shirt Front (DTG) | 4,500 x 5,400 | 150 min, 300 ideal | PNG (transparent) | DTG print area; transparent bg required; avoid fine linework below 150 DPI |
| Mug 11oz | 3,300 x 2,550 | 300 | JPG / PNG | Full wrap; handle area is print-free zone — keep key elements away from edges |
Gooten requires 300 DPI minimum on all wall art, canvas, and home goods. Apparel (DTG) accepts 150 DPI minimum but 300 DPI produces sharper results. All files must be sRGB; CMYK is not accepted. Maximum file size 25MB.
Gooten's API and why sellers use it for automation
Gooten's main differentiator is its API-first architecture. Unlike platforms designed for one-listing-at-a-time uploads, Gooten exposes a full REST API that covers product catalog browsing, order submission, shipment tracking, and webhook events. This makes it the go-to fulfillment layer for sellers who want to automate order routing from their Shopify store, Etsy shop, or custom storefront.
The Shopify app integration is the most common entry point: sellers connect their store, map their products to Gooten SKUs, and orders route automatically to Gooten's fulfillment network when a sale comes through. For sellers doing fewer than 50 orders per month, the Shopify app handles everything without touching the API directly. For agencies or developers building bespoke storefronts, the API unlocks full control over variant mapping, image asset management, and order status callbacks.
File delivery also differs from consumer POD platforms. Instead of uploading images through a browser dashboard, Gooten's API accepts image URLs — your server submits an order with a public URL pointing to the print-ready file. This means your image processing pipeline (resize to spec, stamp 300 DPI, export sRGB JPG) needs to run before the order hits Gooten, not as a manual upload step. Tools like Ratio Ready can generate and host the correct file variants so the URL Gooten receives is already spec-compliant.
Automate Gooten file prep
Drop your master design into Ratio Ready. Target Gooten's wall art pixel specs (8x10 through 24x36), get back 300 DPI sRGB JPGs ready to host as Gooten order image URLs. Run once per design variant — no manual resizing per order.

Common Gooten upload failures and how to fix them
Gooten's validator and fulfillment partners flag these issues most often:
- Low DPI metadata on wall art. Gooten reads the embedded DPI tag in JPEG and PNG files. A 4,800 x 6,000 px image with 72 DPI metadata gets flagged even though the pixel count is correct for a 16x20" print at 300 DPI. The fix: always stamp 300 DPI metadata at export. Ratio Ready stamps every output automatically — every wall art variant leaves with correct 300 DPI metadata regardless of what the source file said.
- CMYK color space. Gooten's pipeline expects sRGB. Files exported in CMYK (common in Photoshop when print profiles are applied) cause a double-conversion inside Gooten's workflow and produce washed-out, color-shifted prints. Design in sRGB from the start, or convert to sRGB before final export. In Photoshop: Edit → Convert to Profile → sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
- Files over 25MB. Gooten enforces a 25MB per-file limit. A 24x36" print at 300 DPI as a lossless PNG can easily exceed this. Fix: export as JPEG at 95% quality (typically 8–15MB for large wall art) rather than PNG when lossless transparency is not needed for the product. PNG is required for tote bags and apparel where transparent backgrounds are necessary.
- Undersized files for large-format products. Sellers sometimes upload a 2,400 x 3,000 px file (correct for 8x10") for an 18x24" order. At 18x24" that's only 133 DPI — well below the 300 DPI minimum. Gooten may accept the file but the print output will be visibly soft. Always match pixel dimensions to the ordered product size, not the design's original export size.
- Canvas files without extended wrap edges. Canvas products need image content that extends into the wrap area — typically 0.75" to 1.5" beyond the visible face on all four sides. Submitting a file at exact face dimensions results in a white (or black) wrap edge, which looks unprofessional. Extend the design or add a mirrored/solid-color bleed before submitting canvas orders.
Gooten vs Printful vs Printify — a brief comparison
All three platforms handle POD fulfillment, but they're aimed at different seller profiles and workflows:
- Gooten is B2B-focused and API-first. Best fit for Shopify sellers doing 100+ orders per month, agencies managing multiple brands, or developers building custom storefronts. Pricing is wholesale (volume-based discounts). The catalog is deep (140+ SKUs) but the UI is less polished than Printful for manual-upload workflows. Image files must be spec-compliant before submission — there's no browser-based editor to resize or crop.
- Printful is the largest consumer-facing POD platform with the most polished design editor, mockup generator, and Etsy/Shopify integration. Best for sellers who want a hands-on experience and don't mind slightly higher per-item costs. DPI requirements are similar (150 DPI minimum, 300 DPI ideal) but Printful's dashboard flags low-resolution files at upload time — Gooten's API doesn't surface this warning until fulfillment.
- Printify is a marketplace that connects sellers to a network of independent print providers. Pricing is often lower than Printful or Gooten but quality consistency varies by provider. File specs differ per provider (one 8x10" wall art provider may require different pixel dimensions than another on the same platform). Printify suits cost-focused sellers who are willing to vet providers per product.
For Etsy sellers testing POD: start with Printful for ease of use and quality consistency, then evaluate Gooten or Printify once order volume justifies the integration complexity. For Shopify brands at scale: Gooten's API and wholesale pricing typically win on unit economics.
